(fade out with tremolo on Gmaj7 after repeat).

Stevie Wonder originally wrote this song for his girlfriend when they were both students at the Michigan School for the Blind at Lansing, Michigan. He called it "Oh My Marsha". Inevitably they separated and the song was shelved until 1967, when with co-writers Sylvia Moy and Henry Cosby, Stevie revised it with the generic title "My Cherie Amour". But it did not see the light of day until 1969 because Wonder had vocal problems for some years and could not record it. When it was finally released in January 1969 it went "through the roof"! rising to No #4 on both Billboard Magazine's "Pop" and "R&B" charts that same year and has been hailed as a Soul Classic ever since.

Steveland Hardaway Morris, Judkins, better known as Stevie Wonder, born on May 13 1950, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, was a child prodigy. He has become one of the most creative musical figures of the late 20th century. Blind since soon after birth, he was signed with Motown's "Tamia" Label at age 11 yrs and continues to record and perform for Tamia.

He has recorded more than 20 top ten hits, received more Grammy awards than any other person (22 in all) and is acclaimed world-wide as an activist for indigenous causes He was named a United Nations Messenger for Peace in 2009 and rated No 5 on Billboard Magazine's all time 100 "hot" Top Artists in 2008. In December 2012 he was inducted into the SoulMusic Hall of Fame

W. Steele July 2013.
