This song was written as a Christnmas song in 1953 by Joan Javits, neice of Republican Senator Jacob Javits. It was recorded in October of that year by Ertha Kitt whose slinky, sexy style and little girl voice made it a fabulous hit immediately. Kitt would cover her own recording 4 or 5 times more, updating the lyrics with variable success for the next 2o years. It has been covered by myriads of "femmes fatales" since the 50's including Maddona and our own Kate Ceberano and Kylie.....
