Take a 'dekko' at the changes I'll make _________________

This is a parody of a Jazz standard which saw the light of day from the pen of Bill Higgins in 1921. Ben Overstreet wrote the original lyrics but both the music and lyrics have been changed to suit the needs of the performer. And many performers there have been - from purely balladeers to those steeped in Jazz. I have used two sources for the words in this arrangement. First time through I was influenced by Ethel Waters but the second time was taken from the Chet Atkins/Mark Knopfler 1990 reading which references the Dire Straits song, Money for Nothing in the line "I'll do my 'thing' for nothing, get my chicks for free".
This song lends itself to many tempi. From the hard driving fast tempi of 1920's Jazz groups to the plaintiff chanting of Chet Atkins - so, it's up to you how you read it! But, although my take is humorous, it is really a "Jazz Blues".
