GoChords Announces New Pricing Plans, and the Return of Free Accounts

GoChords is pleased to announce some developments that we think you all will be pretty happy about — namely, we’ve decided to lower our subscription prices. Our current prices are $5/month or $50/year for a full-subscription; our new prices will be $3/month or $30/year. Told you you’d like that!

Also, we are eliminating the “Reader” plan (this account allowed users to join groups to view songs that others had created, but not create songs themselves). Instead, we are re-introducing a free plan that is like the Reader plan, but with a few additions. Free users will be able to create up to 3 songs now, and will have some additional abilities to share those songs with their groups and with others.

If you are a current subscriber, you can easily switch over to our new pricing plan by following these steps:

Cancel your existing GoChords payment agreement at PayPal by clicking here.

Log out of GoChords, then log back in.

Re-subscribe by clicking here.

The pricing changes are a result of feedback we got from many of you who said you liked our application, but felt that it was too much for you afford. We hope that our new pricing structure will encourage some of you to return. We had also discovered that the paid-only access to GoChords was detrimental to the community aspect of what we do. As with many other social networks, GoChords has people who are content creators, and others who are primarily content consumers (ie, people who are looking for music to play, but who don’t create songs themselves). The creators need the tools to create, as well as an audience, and the consumers need easy access to the work of the creators, and that’s why we felt it was important to re-introduce the free plan.

The other significant change that is happening behind the scenes is that we are changing our payment gateway from PayPal to Stripe. We had been having some issues with PayPal for some time now, and we wanted to be able to provide a better subscription experience for our audience, and we believe that Stripe’s service will allow us to do that. Mostly, this will be invisible to our users, but one way you will notice the difference right away is that if you are subscribing or upgrading from a free plan to a paid one, you will no longer be sent off of the GoChords site to make your payment, so the process will be a lot more seamless.

We are pretty excited about all these changes, and we hope you are too. If you have any questions about our subscription plans, please contact us.
